Pacific Coast Highway Adventure

This last Friday, we drove from Sacramento to San Luis Obispo via California Highway 1--perhaps better known as the Pacific Coast Highway! It was absolutely gorgeous. We stopped at Santa Cruz as well as other random spots. At every turn there was a new view of the waves crashing against the rocks or a lighthouse or elephant seals, etc. It was pretty amazing! Enjoy the pictures and we hope they make you envious :)

California Fun!

Well, we shipped all of our belongings to Ohio, left our home in Utah, and we're now traveling through California (stop #1 on our trip...next comes San Louis Obispo, CA followed by Dallas, TX and THEN, finally, Columbus, OH). I get to spend the days hanging out with my family while Brant spends his time studying for the CPA (Certified Public Accountant) exam he's taking this summer. It doesn't seem like he ever gets a break, but I'm really grateful for him and for how hard he works. We're staying with my Grandma and Spencer loves to play with her. They seem to keep each other pretty well entertained.
We went to downtown Sacramento with my parents and sister, Karissa. We got to go to THE Railroad Museum, which was pretty fun.
When we were leaving the Railroad Museum, Spencer was really sad and kept saying, "bye-bye choo choo, bye-bye choo choo!" So we took a picture saying bye to the choo choos.
Our 4th wedding anniversary was June 17th and even though we were supposed to get small presents for each other, Brant got me a new set of pans. :) I love them! He also got me some roses and the book "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society". He always spoils me.
I got Brant Titleist golf balls (the number one ball on the PGA Tour, in case you were wondering) and three new Callaway golf gloves. He's already used a glove and lost 3 of the balls. :) We also went out to dinner while Grandma watched Spencer. Four years and still going strong...We took Spencer to a place I used to go when I was a little girl: Fairy Tale Town! We went with my brother and sister-in-law and their 3 kids. It's a fun place (in the picture below, we are sliding down Jack's beanstalk).Spencer was pretty thrilled to see the goats (they were next to the bridge and are, we are told, technically "billy goats"). I love the face he's making here.

Spencer's new favorite game

Brant comes up with the most creative games to play with Spencer. We had these empty storage containers in our living room that Spencer loved to sit in. I thought, "Aww, how cute" and Brant thought, "Hey, let's push him around the living room!" That's why it's good to have a daddy. Needless to say, Spencer's new favorite thing it being pushed around in a storage container. He'll hold on really tight and can't help but crack up laughing when it's over. Then he'll sit down again ready for another ride. After doing this a couple dozen times, Brant had rug burn on his knees--literally, they were bleeding. Brant will do anything to get a laugh out of Spencer.

Project power

We've been working on a ton of projects since we'll be moving out of our house soon. Brant and Spencer sanded and painted my desk in this first picture. I only have a "before" picture, but I think it's so cute how much Spencer loves to help his Daddy. When Brant mows the lawn he always puts Spencer in the baby backpack and Spencer LOVES it. Other projects we've done include edging the lawn (not a small feat for those of you who know the number of edges our front lawn has). We've painted our bedroom, touched up the hallway and kitchen, Brant weeded the back run and put down anti-weed fabric, and then of course there's the packing. It's amazing how much stuff we've collected in the past 4 years.
Spencer likes to help me cook. Usually he just stands on my feet so lately I've given him his own bowl and spoon. So cute.

Here are some pictures of Spencer giving us kisses. He'll just go back and forth between me and Brant and give us a kiss or a hug. We sure love our little boy.

Park City

We spent a week in Park City after Brant's graduation. His parents were with us for a few days which was fun. We checked out the Olympic Park and Main Street. We also went shopping at the outlets and swimming in the heated pool. It was nice to get away for a little while and just enjoy being a family without all the responsibilities of home and work.

Hooray for Brant!

Brant graduated with his Master of Accountancy on April 24th! I'm so proud of him!
