Zoo time

We ventured out to the zoo yesterday. We got there as early as we could trying to avoid the heat and humidity that worsen as the day goes on. It wasn't too bad until the walk back to the car. Spencer fell asleep in the stroller like he always does after a lot of playing. He then slept another 2 hours at home which means it was a successful trip.
I was going to take a picture of Spencer next to this dog and I thought he would give me a smile. Instead he was posing just like the dog is, squatting with his tongue sticking out. This kid cracks me up all the time. We've been working on counting lately and for some reason Spencer always says, "1,2,3,4,7,5,6,7". I think he just really likes 7 because it gets in there twice. He also loves to be held and cuddled (which we love) so he's always saying, "I hold you" meaning we need to hold him. He's starting to add "me" at the end ("I hold you me") because I think he's realizing that something's not quite right with his pronouns.
We love food!
This was Gavin's first trip to the zoo. He was not impressed.
Our cute Gavin seems to be growing so fast.

Watermelon

I think watermelon is one of the best things about summer. Even though I eat it all of the time, Spencer had yet to even try it. A few days ago as I was cutting one into little cubes, Spencer announced that he wanted some 'wawamelon' (we're still working on the word 'water'). I put some in a bowl for him not expecting him to eat any. He often asks for strawbabies or bluebabies, but never really eats them. For some reason he was born with an aversion to fresh fruits and vegetables. (He literally gagged on a carrot he tried last week.) Anyway, he did end up taking a bite of the watermelon and loved it! He ate the whole bowl full and asked for another. It made me so happy!
We love that smile!
Gavin loves to sleep!

Cute boys

We're so in love with our two little guys. Spencer loves to do everything like Daddy does. Here he is wearing Brant's new Australian cowboy hat (his dad got it for him at the fair). Brant does a really good job at encouraging Spencer to eat. Brant will take a big bite and call it a "Simba bite" (from the Lion King) and then Spence will take a big "Simba bite". Spencer then growls the entire time he chews. This goes on at dinner until Spencer's eaten a good amount of his food.
Gavin is growing fast. He's starting to get little rolls on his arms and legs which we love. He still loves to sleep and gives us a few hours of sleep in a row most nights.

Santa Maria

This is a replica of the ship Christopher Columbus sailed on when he discovered the Americas. It's been in Columbus for about 20 years. When Brant was younger the church used to put on a play every year called "Christopher". He got to spend the night on the ship during the play to watch all of the props they had. It was really neat for him to go back and see it again. I was just amazed at how small the ship is.

Ohio State Fair!

We went to the opening day of the Ohio State Fair. I love fairs, just because I love to walk around and look at all the cool things, but Brant is not a fan. He was nice enough to humor me by coming along and I think he ended up having a good time. Brant's parents came with us so that made it even more fun.
Spencer watching the horses with Grandma and Grandpa.
Guess what these cows are carved out of? Butter! It's an Ohio State Fair tradition that every year they carve a cow (or two) out of butter. Spencer thought it was pretty cool.
A little tractor time between exhibits.
It's not a fair without the "Footsie Tootsie".
Brant was trying out this chair so Spencer grabbed a little one from the other side of the display and dragged it so he could sit next to Daddy.
Isn't this the coolest cake you've ever seen?!
It was a busy day and Spencer was glad he could finally get some rest after all the fun he'd had.
